Something From Nothing:
Something From Nothing According to a writer for the New York Times, “If ‘On the Origin of Species’ was biology’s deadliest blow to supernaturalism, we may come to see ‘A Universe From Nothing’ as the equivalent from cosmology.” NY-Times 03/23/12. With that being the case, let’s take a critical look at the information and see if it stands up to scrutiny. In this talk we will critique the video that was made for Dr. L.M. Krause’s book tour with Dr. R. Dawkins. The goal is for you to make an informed decision. Don’t trust us, look at the evidence for yourself. Listen to what they have to say to see which view makes more sense: God created everything, or NOTHING created everything?

Whose “Voice” Are We Listening To?:
Let’s use the popular TV show, “The Voice” to make an important biblical point! There are many “voices” that are speaking to us in the world today. The media, video games, smart technology etc. are all having an impact. In this talk Carl will identify a number of those “voices” and share the impact they are having. He will also challenge us to make sure we’re listening and obeying the correct “voice!”

What About…Aliens?:
Does the Bible talk about Aliens? If so, what does it say? How do we deal with this increasingly popular subject? Many would think this isn’t an important topic. But, it is! TV shows and movies have taken the topic of aliens and made people believe that there is no doubt about their existence. Using the Word of God Carl breaks down this seemingly impossible issue and gives biblical truth in dealing with this relevant topic.

Finding God in Ancient China:
If the Bible is true, shouldn’t the oldest writing known have references to it? Maybe it does! As a young boy Carl was intrigued by Japanese writing and Japan when his father brought back posters of his time wresting in Japan. (A toy robot also had a big impact!) From those simple beginnings Carl developed a desire to go to Japan and see it for himself. God graciously allowed this to happen and he spent over 4 years living there. During this time he met his now wife, Masami. His interest in the Japanese writing continued even after he became a Christian. It became even more intense when he met a lady who had studied the characters for years and found that the Gospel message is clearly depicted in the most ancient writing on the planet. In this talk Carl shares what was taught to him many years ago by Ethel Nelson and more from his personal studies over the years. This is a very intriguing talk.

1 Peter 3:15 & Giving Reasons for Hope!
How can Christians offer true “hope” to the world that we live in? Using 1 Peter 3:13-16 Carl shares the “Who”, “What”, “How” and “Why” it is imperative that Christians take a biblical worldview to give true HOPE. It is only then that we can truly have hope and offer hope to the lost. This talk will challenge the body of Christ to become more active in sharing their “mosaic” with the world around us in order to share the love of Christ. Carl will share broken pieces of his “mosaic” in order to show what the Lord has done. Each of His children need to be like the Israelites and share with others what God has done and is doing in our lives. This talk will encourage Christians in the “Share it!” component of the Reasons for Hope ministries objectives.

Answering Skeptics…Bill Nye!:
Recently Bill Nye the Science Guy has revealed himself to be very antagonistic of Christianity. Let’s address his claims.Bill Nye has become popular again recently. He did a “Big Talk” video where he went after those that don’t believe in evolution in a major way. In this talk Carl will break down that video and address his claims. In addition questions that he raised will be addressed using secular sources.What does he mean by “evolution”? Are “tiny changes” the mechanism by which a worm eventually turned into humans? How are mutations involved in that process? Can a “Christian” really do “science”? What about “ancient dinosaur bones”? Don’t they show Christians are wrong? Plus more!
Christians need to be ready to give an answer for the reason for the hope that they have within them. This talk will help give some of those answers and, hopefully, encourage the body of Christ to become more visible in the culture. This talk addresses the “Know it!” component of the Reasons for Hope ministry.

Answering Skeptics . . . Richard Dawkins!:
Dr. Dawkins isn’t known for being friendly! Can Christians withstand his attack? Watch and see. Richard Dawkins is one of the most antagonistic of the “new atheists”. In this talk Carl takes a video that Dr. Dawkins made where he ambushed then President of Concerned Women for America, Wendy Wright, and addresses the questions that he raised. Christians need to be aware that if Richard Dawkins is using an argument, hundreds of those that follow his every move will use it. Using secular sources Carl will show that the claims that he makes are not that difficult to give an answer to. The problem is not in the evidence, the problem is in the interpretation of the evidence. What about homo erectus? What about homo habilus? What about austrolopithecus? What about children having “gill slits” as they develop in their mothers womb? These plus many more questions are addressed in this talk. This talk is designed to address the “Know it!” component of the Reasons for Hope ministry.

Becoming Bold! Know It! Live It! Share It!:
The church is losing its next generation at an alarming rate. What can we do about it? Anywhere from 50 to 88 percent of the young people raised in Bible-believing Christian homes walk away from the church after age 18. In this talk, Carl examines the causes of this huge exodus, but then shows that by starting with the Bible, solutions can be offered to this massive problem in the church. Teaching just Bible stories to our children isn’t working; young people in our churches need to know how to stand uncompromisingly on the authority and accuracy of the Bible so that they can answer the skeptical questions of the age. This is the keynote talk for rforh’s Becoming Bold Conferences where our challenge is to Know it! Live it! and Share it! This talk will address all three of these issues.

Dads . . . It’s Time!:
What we need today are Christian “men” who are willing to stand on the Word of God. In this powerful, straight-forward, biblically grounded talk Carl challenges men to stand up and be the spiritual leaders Christ has called them to be. No more abdicating that responsibility to the world, the church or anybody else. Dads, you are called to educate and train your children! Carl will identify the tools being used to destroy families and then show how to overcome those attacks. The Lord’s pattern is that the man be the head of the home and be the provider, protector and priest of the family…and, raise children in the fear and admonition of the Lord! Does “What’s in the Bible?” Teach What’s in the Bible?:
Teaching “how” to think is vital to stemming the church exodus. Carl use’s popular media to teach how! Almost everybody knows about the “Veggie Tales” video’s. They have been hugely popular in both the Christian as well as the secular market. Well, visionary Phil Visher created another series entitled, “What’s in the Bible?” that is amazingly well done. They are colorful, very professionally made and contain puppets, animation and lots of fun songs. In this talk Carl will breakdown the episode that deals with the book of Genesis. This is a talk that will encourage and equip the body of Christ to critically evaluate what we are watching. It doesn’t matter if we are watching secular or “Christian” programs. We need to be like the Bereans and take what is being taught and comparing it with Scripture to see if it is true or not. This is a talk that will address the “Know it!”, “Live it!” and “Share it!” components.

Evangelism 101:
Carl shares from his heart in this powerful, thought provoking talk that will challenge you to evangelize the lost! If we want to reach the world today with the Gospel we’re going to have as many tools at our disposal as possible. One tool that everyone of us can use is, conversation! Carl shows how and how NOT to answer the attacks leveled against Christians. The conclusion is one not soon forgotten where the “power of conversation” is seen first hand. What can we learn from a hospital encounter that would challenge us to evangelize more? Watch and see! Do you have a “full-code” or “Comfort Measures” faith? This talk is based on an actual experience Carl had with a dear friend who is a heart doctor. After making the rounds with his friend Carl was challenged when he met a man who was about to lose his wife. The Bible tells us that our life is like a vapor and this experience reinforced the truth of this teaching. Carl shares the experience and the biblical application that impacted his life and believes that will challenge you to take your faith more seriously as well. Is “The Bible” Biblical?:
Let’s use popular media to teach a generation “how” to think! It doesn’t have to be boring.
The History Channel’s hit show, “The Bible” was watched by millions. In this talk Carl and the audience will critically evaluate the first 5 minutes of this blockbuster. It takes almost 1 hour to talk about the first 5 minutes!! Come prepared to think because this is a talk that will help you put into practice what Carl is calling Christians to do more of which is to critically evaluate what we are watching. When we start doing this we are able to use the media as a tool to teach truth and discernment. This talk will help with the “Know it!” and “Live it!” component.

Jesus on Genesis!:
It doesn’t matter what we think about Genesis, it matter’s what Jesus thought! Let’s see what He taught. Many in the church today do not believe that the book of Genesis is important in the modern world. We have been deceived into thinking that it is full of mistakes and errors. In this talk Carl will address why we can trust not only the first book in the Bible, but the entire book as well. As a Christian instead of being concerned with what others think about something, we should be concerned with what our Savior, Jesus Christ, thinks. Using secular media Carl teaches how to address popular claims about the Bible and dinosaurs! Ask this question in the church today and almost every Christian will ‘say’ Jesus! The only problem is that when asked specific questions about dinosaurs Christians will answer with a ‘Jurassic Park’ mentality! Using clips from the wildly popular ‘Jurassic Park’ movies Carl shares what is being taught in the movies but then contrasts it with what the Bible teaches and science really shows. Get an “inside” look at Air Traffic Control and let’s see if we can’t make spiritual application. Using his former job as an Air Traffic Controller at O’Hare International Airport as an illustration, Carl demonstrates how to reach people today with the Gospel. If we are going to be effective though we must start with the proper foundation. Christians need a Biblical Worldview in order to have answers for a culture that no longer trusts God or His Word! The ‘rocks’ do ‘cry out’ that God has judged sin in the past just as He said. This powerful presentation compares riding the rapids of the mighty Colorado River with handling the trials we face in life. As Christians, we must trust God’s Word and follow His plan for our lives. Real World Evangelism – The Smithsonian!:
Can’t make it to Washington D.C. to tour the Smithsonian? Let’s do a virtual tour, from a biblical perspective. Using only secular sources Carl will discuss the supposed evolutionary ancestors that are depicted in the Smithsonian’s 24.5 million dollar exhibit showing human evolution. This is a great talk to do with people just before they go on a trip to Washington D.C. and visit the world famous museum. You may be surprised at what is actually found, and what is depicted. You may also be surprised to find out that the supposed “evidence” that is used supposedly showing human evolution as a fact, isn’t what the actual evidence supports. This is a VERY important talk and ones that will hopefully show parents how to teach their children to apply their faith in the “real world”! Remote Control: Critically Evaluating What We Are Watching!:
Teach a generation “how” to think when watching TV and movies. This is a very important topic for Christians today. Today’s Christians are so used to the teaching of millions of years and evolution that they no longer notice how prevalent it is in our everyday lives. We wonder why 50% to 88% of the children raised in the Church leave by the time they are 18. Let’s be honest, who is truly teaching our children? Currently children spend 900 hours a year in a school. That same student typically spends 1064 hours in front of a TV. If the church thinks they can overcome this much indoctrination by having the youth for 1 -3 hours a week by playing games and eating pizza, they’re wrong! In this talk Carl shares numerous examples from Comic books, TV, Movies etc. showing how much indoctrination is taking place. Even in ‘family friendly’ materials there are blatant teachings that are undermining our young peoples ability to trust the Word of God. This talk will help Christians to get their ‘radar’ turned on in order to catch these falsehoods. It will also teach parents how they can use the media as a way to start communicating the truth of God’s Word. This talk will address the “Know it!” & “Share it!” challenge.

Remote Controller: Critically Evaluating What We Are Playing!:>
Video games aren’t important, right? Not so fast, you may want to hear this information. Until he was challenged by his son, Carl Sr. thought that T.V. and movies were having the most impact on today’s youth. Today he sincerely believes that he was wrong. He’s now a firm believer that video games are having a major impact on the culture. Even more than schools! The average time a child spends in front of a TV set is 1064 hours a year. The average time a “gamer” spends playing video games is 18 hours a week which works out to 936 hours a year! Even though it is less time overall, the difference is that TV is passive, while the video game is not. Those that are playing them often will name the character after themselves. They then decide who to do what to and how to do it! So, what’s the answer? Throw them out! Throw your hands up and give! It’s not quite that simple many times. At a minimum we need to be aware of what is going on in this world. In this talk Carl share’s what many of the most popular games are actually teaching. Forget about sex and violence for a moment, that’s a given. In this talk we will deal with what they are teaching about God, the Bible, Christians and Jesus? What you see may shock you. We pray that it does motivate you into becoming much more aware of what you are allowing to infiltrate your mind. Parents, running and hiding isn’t the answer! You have been called to train a generation and it must also include what the culture is using to destroy a generation. This includes video games. Youth, if you are a Christian you must become more discerning on what you are allowing into your mind. This talk with challenge everyone to become more aware of what the world is using to indoctrinate a generation to no longer trust the Word of God!

What About . . . Dinosaurs?:
Does the Bible really talk about dinosaurs? Yes, and you may be surprised at how much it says! When we start from the Scriptures as it was give to us, real history from the only one who has always been there and knows everything, we will understand the world around us in a very different manner. Dinosaurs are one of the major tools used by the secular world to train children into believing the world is millions of years old and the Bible isn’t true. Well, in this talk we will start with the Bible to answer common questions such as: Does the Bible talk about dinosaurs? Why don’t we find the word dinosaur in the Bible? Did dinosaurs go on the ark and if so how did they fit? Don’t dinosaurs prove the earth is millions of years old? What happened to the dinosaurs? Yes, the answers will be different from what you hear on Discovery Channel! But that’s because our starting point is different. This talk will address the “Know it!” and “Share it!” challenge.

What About . . . Fossils?:
Let’s talk about fossils and what the evidence actually supports. Slow, gradual processes or rapid, catastrophic processes? This entertaining talk will challenge the belief that the fossil record supports the teaching of millions of years. A proper understanding of what the ‘evidence’ shows in the fossil record is vital to having Biblical answers in today’s world. We will cover how bias and world-views affect the way that we see the world around us. Questions such as,”What do fossils really show us?” “Doesn’t it take millions of years for fossil formation?” “What about the phylogenetic charts of many animal families ‘proving’ evolution?” will all be discussed. You will learn how to look at these things with a critical eye. The information in this talk will help prepare you to reconnect the Bible to the real world. This talk will address the “Know it!” challenge.

What About . . . Genesis? Can We Trust It?:
This talk will share vitally important research on the youth that are leaving the church. We can stem the tide! This talk is vital to understanding why the book of Genesis is so important to the issues we are dealing with in the world today. In a culture where we are losing so many young people who are raised in the church we need to figure out what the causes are. If you don’t know “when” and “why” we are losing them, we can never figure out a “how” to solve the problem. Using research done on 20 years old’s who were raised in the conservative church and who have walked away Carl will show “when” and “why” and then propose a “how” to overcome this serious problem. This talk will address the “Know it!” challenge.

What About . . . Human Evolution?:
Everyone knows humans evolved from ape-like ancestors, right? Looks look at the evidence and see! In our world today we’re inundated with the message that man evolved over millions of years. Our school systems, television programs, movies and even music push this message on us constantly. But, what does the ‘evidence’ really show? Using information from the “Revealing the Link” website Carl will discuss the supposed evolutionary ‘ancestors’ used there to “prove” human evolution. This includes the world famous, Lucy. “What you believe about where you come from will impact the way that you live your life today!” This is one of the most important talks that Carl gives today. If we truly want to solve the problem of racism there is only one way, and that is by starting with the Word of God. For too long Christians have said “Jesus” with their lips but lived their lives with a anti-biblical mindset. There is no clearer example than how many “Christians”, have in the past and are currently dealing with this issue. Here Carl will shed light from God’s Word and from real science on the truth about so-called “races”. What does ‘science’ really say about this issue? More importantly, what does God’s Word say?
